“We experiment with new opportunities to offer our YouTube premium subscribers more flexibility and value, including a premium tariff for two people with whom two people can share a subscription at lower costs.”
With the new tariff, users can share their YouTube premium or YouTube music subscription with another household member. The tariff is linked to editions: Both members must be at least 13 years old, have a Google account and be part of the same Google family group.
The company does not explain to which criteria customers are offered the new option. It is also unclear whether YouTube will offer the new tariff level for testing in other countries later.
YouTube Premium Duo between single and family plan
The duo tariff is positioned between the family and individual subscription and is suitable for couples, roommates and smaller households, for which the family subscription may not be worthwhile.
In France, the duo subscription costs 19.99 euros in the pilot phase, while 12.99 euros are due for the single tariff. The YouTube premium family subscription costs 23.99 euros per month. So far, the company YouTube Premium has been offering a single subscription and as a family subscription. The latter can use up to six people. There is also a discounted single subscription for students.
