With UWB support and luggage tracking: “Find my device” is “Find hub”

In the course of the Android show, Google has renamed “Find Hub” in addition to a redesign of Android 16 and Wear OS 6 as well as other news, its “Mein device find” network and administered new functions.

With the “Find Hub”, Google wants to make it easier to “find objects, family and friends”. Among other things, the company would like to expand the scope of partner companies, but also the type of products that can be found. In addition, satellite communication moves into the hub.

In addition to smartphones, headphones and tracking gadgets, the first companies like the suitcase manufacturers have July and Mocobara Products with Find-Hub integration announced. Also the ski manufacturer Peak Integrated Tracker support into the first products. The manufacturer Pixbee also plans Bluetooth supporters with Disney motifs.

For a more precise location than with Bluetooth, Google activates the support for ultra-tape-enabled (UWB) tag during the month. Motorolas Moto Tag already presented in 2024 already has UWB on board, so that the day can be located more precisely with the Google-sided update in the future.

In addition to UWB support, Google integrates into the “Find Hub” in the course of the year satellite conference to increase your own security. According to the manufacturer, it should be possible to “stay connected to friends and family if there is no mobile phone reception”. So far, Google does not reveal any further details about the function, but it sounds that users can send and receive their location with third parties by satellite with third parties.

In order to move closer to Apple’s scope of Airtags with regard to the range of functions, users will in future share trackers and products with Find-Hub support with airlines via the Find Hub in order to find lost luggage more easily. The first airlines include Aer Lingus, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Iberia and Singapore Airlines.
