Wild rumor: iPhone 17 Pro with customizable color?

It has already been leaked that this year’s iPhone models will receive some new colors, including an orange-like copper tone. Now a rumor in China is making the round that goes beyond: supposedly Apple intends to implement a “special color” that is visually based on Apple’s new iOS-26-look liquid glass. The information comes from the well-known Leaker Instant Digital, who has 1.84 million fans at the Chinese X-Pendant Weibo.

He or she writes that the iPhone 17 Pro (and probably 17 Pro Max) comes in a “Special Color Scheme” that is related to the “iOS-26-liquid glass design”. Accordingly, the basic color should be white, but the housing show “different effects in different lights”. However, he had only heard of it and has not yet seen the color himself.

If there is something on the rumor, Apple could implement a shimmering, glass-like housing look for the first time on an iPhone. This is possible with certain metal processing or painting that break the light differently. This is reminiscent of Special paints of carsthat are prismatic and generate an oil -like rainbow effect. For the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, there was also speculation about a matt coating in the style of Apple’s well-known nanotexture, which has so far only been used in MacBook Pro models and the iPad Pro (plus desktop display).

In the past, Instant Digital had been properly located in a new yellow tone for the iPhone 14 and 14 plus, as well as a new titanium bracelet in Milanese-style for the Apple Watch Ultra. However, the leaker was already wrong.

So far, it was said that Apple was used on the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max said copper orange, a dark blue, plus black and gray. There is also a white tone. It remains to be seen whether this is really as different as being heard from China. The devices will probably be presented in early September. Six different colors are supposedly intended for the iPhone 17 and four colors for the particularly thin iPhone 17 Air.
