WhatsApp stops the maintenance of 3 iPhone models today

What’s App will suspend the support of 3 iPhone models today, June 1st due to a change in app software requirements, which Meta offered at the end of 2024 Users who want to continue to use such a popular communication service will need to buy a new device from the Apple ecosystem, which has access to a version of iOS newer than 15.1.

The models that will no longer have access to WhatsApp are the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Initially, the change had to take effect in early May, but for unclear reasons, META has extended the maintenance of the three devices by another month.

There have been rumors in the online space that three more models will lose access to the app, in particular the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and the first generation of the iPhone SE, but given the fact that all three smartphones have access to iOS 15.8.4, the allegations turned out to be untenable.

If you own any of the first 3 phones, there are not many options for you. You can make a backup of all your chats, calls and data on iCloud and buy a new iPhone that you can use WhatsApp or just continue to use your current device, but without access to such a popular communication app.
