Waiting for the first public beta: iOS 26 and Co probably only in the 2nd half of the month

If you are interested in the public beta of Apple’s new operating systems, you have to be patient. Loud a tweet The usually well-informed Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman will probably be “around the 23rd” so far-clearly in the second half of July. As a reminder: Developers can try iOS 26, MacOS 26, Ipados 26, Watchos 26 and TVOS 26 since the beginning of June.

Apple has announced the public advance versions of its operating systems, which also includes new HomePod software and an Airpods firmware update with new functions this year, for the month of July, as the group does regularly, but does not call a specific date of publication. In 2024 Apple IOS 18, MacOS 15 & Co released on July 15 as a preliminary version for testing. Now it looks that Apple may still insert a fourth development beta before the normal users are allowed. Then the first public beat would be based on Developer Beta 4.

With Developer Beta 3, which was released on July 7, Apple has further reduced its new design topic Liquid Glass, which serves to readability. This was done on both the Mac and iPhone and iPad. While on the one hand there was praise for the decision, criticism also came, for example from the said Mark Gurman. He wrote that Apple had become despondent that the group reacted too quickly to criticism to tweets, among other things, and corrected his new design instead of providing users for the “glassiness”.

Apple has not only implemented a new license scheme- now based on the year- for iOS & CO, but also dares to change various design and operating changes at all systems. Apparently, the group takes more time with developer tests before all other users can try out the systems.

Public betas are offered free of charge. However, you should only install users if you have devices for testing that are not in productive operation. It also makes sense to work with test apples accounts in order not to run in the new systems in any iCloud bugs that may be available. A public beta of Visionos 26 that developers can already test will obviously not exist.
