Apple wants to improve the gaming on the Vision Pro: In addition to normal game controllers, Visionos 26, which will be released in autumn, can also be used for the first time their VR variants. Better said, currently exactly one: Sonys Sense controller for PlayStation VR2. The game offer is also limited. So far, only the sports title “Pickle Pro” from Resolution Games has been announced, known among others from “Racket Club” For the Meta Quest. While the developers will gradually improve the title selection, one problem remains: How do you get the scythe controller? That is currently a problem.
An additional headset, cheap to hand over
The reason: Sony does not sell the two devices in the spherical design individually. If you are looking for them, you can currently only find a loading module online for 50 euros, but the actual controllers are not. These are only part of the PlayStation VR2 package including headset. The current price: road at around 390 euros, Sony around 450 euros. Now one could say that this is a bargain for vision-pro-pro buyer who have already paid around 4,000 euros for their headset. Only: What does the vision-pro buyer want with the “gift” headset that is part of the VR2 set?
Sony himself cannot provide any information on how to proceed. When asked by Heise Online, it was only said that so far, the Sense controllers for PlayStation VR2 were not available individually. “We also have no information whether and if so when it is planned.” Anyone who is interested in the controllers as part of the current beta of Visionos 26 must bite into the acid apple and that entire set (from € 387.60) buy. Alternatively, you or he may have PlayStation VR2 and can then use the controller with the Vision Pro. It is also interesting how much the two controllers would cost individually if the set is 450 euros and the charging station at 50 euros – somewhere in between?
Steam support for Sense controller on the Vision Pro
In the meantime, the first developers are ready to use the new compatibility. ALVR, a way to stream SteamVR title on the Vision Pro, wants to support the Sense controller. There are already the first test flight builds, reports uploadvr.
ALVR is currently still using SteamVR’s Skeletal Input for hand tracking, which is little pleasure in some titles-thumbstick/trackpad and buttons have to be emulated. This would have been done with the support for the Sense controller. The ALVR test flight beta is primarily available to developers who want to try support.
