Apple’s in-house headset Vision Pro can reproduce 3D films from the Apple TV application, Disney+ and others and also gets on with suitable apps on VR180 and VR360. However, virtual reality content only becomes really interesting if you can use the full possible resolution of the 4000 euro device. This is the case with so -called Apple Immersive Videos. The problem: these are only produced slow, there are no full-length stripes in technology-not even whole live sports events. Apple himself always works with partners to have content produced. The group has now announced this again: a Fresh portfolio of immersive films is pending for the coming months.
Various new partners at the start
The new (and partly old) partners include video producers Red Bull, BBC, CNN and Canal+, the South Korean music management company Hybe, the racing series MotoGP and car manufacturer Audi. Apple Immersive Video “redefined the possibilities of storytelling” and put the audience “in the middle of the action with an exceptional feeling of presence”, says Apple’s global product marketing manager Bob Borchers.
The problem remains that the content is still a kind of showcase: they are impressive in themselves, but longer films are permanently getting used to for the viewer. Accordingly, it is also understandable that Apple does not publish two -hour films. However, this also ensures that there should be no cinema hits in the format for the foreseeable future – at least nothing is known. Apple’s film hit “F1” is also not an Apple Immersive Video, but only as an IMAX variant.
Fresh episodes of “wild animal kingdom”
The MotoGP documentary “Tour de Force” (with Canal+), an all-round to Red Bull Sport (“World of Red Bull”), a trip to the Antarctic with penguins (CNN), the rainforest document “Julaymba) or a boygroup documentary to Cortis (from Hybe) are planned for the coming months.
Apple will also provide its own immersive programs such as “wild animal kingdom” and “high altitude” with new episodes. Most of the new content should be available by October. The content can be used via the TV app, not all videos are available in all countries. Many of the new films were recorded with the Ursa Cine Immersive camera from Blackmagic Design and edited on the Mac with Davinci Resolve Studio, says Apple.
