USA vs. Apple: iPhone group warns of legally forced redesign

Apple has rejected all the allegations of competition from the US government: the Cartel lawsuit of the US Ministry of Justice consisted of “unoccupied claims” and is a “frontal attack on Apple’s entire business model”, the group complains in its response to the accusations.

The lawsuit creates a “dangerous precedent” for government interventions in technology and attempts to force a redesign on the court, Apple argues In his latest input (United States of America vs. Apple, United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, file number 2: 24-CV-04055). Apple is neither a monopolist nor is the competition illegally hindered by product decisions.

The US Ministry of Justice sued Apple last year: The group built an illegal monopoly in the smartphone market-especially in the “Performance Smartphone Market”-according to the accusation. Apple has now described this market definition as a fantasy construct, a distinction between smartphones and performance smartphones does not correspond to the “economic reality”, Apple is in an “ultra-competitive market”.

The examples of anti -competitive behavior have rejected Apple, and especially. Neither suppresses the company so-called “super apps”, which bundle many functions, nor Apple prevents an interdisciplinary messaging.

Apple also rejects other allegations with regard to cloud gaming and the binding of the NFC interface to Apple Pay. The group has already implemented changes in these points, but only on pressure from regulators, including in the EU.

Apple has already forced Apple to open the law on digital markets “Digital Markets Act”. In the USA, too, Apple has to allow apps to refer to its own purchase opportunities – and may no longer estimate a commission. Here and there, the group continues to struggle against these legal or judicial requirements.
