Jamie Siminoff was not working for Ring for two years, which made a name for itself through networked door rings and cameras. Since April the founder of the company, which was taken over by Amazon in 2018, has been back. Since then he has changed the company’s direction. This has already become clear on the company motto, which has been “Keep People Close to what’s important” since 2024.
In an internal memo from April 2025, however, it is said that, as in Siminoff’s first term in office, the guiding principle is “Make Neighborhoods Safer”. The Memo is located in the business insider according to their own statements. This is intended to demand Siminoff, among other things, to use artificial intelligence techniques in every product and in development.
Like The Verge want to have experiencedthe “Request for Assistance” program also returns. In this way, law enforcement officers were able to access the recordings from the cameras directly. Amazon initially put this on hold after protests and complaints from consumer advocates. Siminoff wants to let the program revive. According to the internal memo, Ring wants to work with the Axon company, which with its “Taser” brands supply numerous authorities in the USA.
Live feed from the front door camera
Among other things, the cooperation is intended to provide for law enforcement officers to call up live feeds from the ring cameras. According to the reports, the users should have to agree. This can only be implemented sensibly if you give this permit over a flat rate, and not in a specific individual case – then the time usually urges. The effects of the strategic changes in Ring in Europe are not yet foreseeable.
The success of Ring, and the fact that entire areas can be monitored with the cameras on the front door is due to a problem that is particularly common in the USA: package theft on the front door. It has been customary there for decades that logistics services also park expensive deliveries in front of the door when you are away, even if the place is widely visible. This attracts thieves, which, if not immediately deterred, may at least be determined by a ring camera.
