To Apple’s “Where is it?”-Find network compatible trackers are available in more and more variants. For example, third -party providers can buy devices that are particularly thin (credit card shape for the wallet) or when finding louder than Apple’s in -house airtables. The accessory provider Scapade registered in Cyprus has now invented a very special form factor: a TSA lock for suitcases and backpacks, in which there is also a “Where is?” Compatible Bluetooth tracker.
Tracking always there
The Air From the outside, the device mentioned looks hardly different from a regular luggage protection with flexible steel core bracket. The number lock only thickens on the side, and it also carries a radio symbol. The idea of the hardware is to simply attach it to the luggage, usually in the area of the zipper. So you never forget to hide an Airtag in the suitcase. However, one should also consider: In the worst case, there is a risk that the lock will be lost and you can no longer track your suitcase.
Because the truth also includes that TSA locks, which are certified by the American Airport Safety Authority Transportation Security Administration, can be opened without any problems available in free trade. So they mainly serve to scare theft, professionals either have a key or remove with a simple metal cutter.
Not cheap and short battery life
Scapade sells his airlocks at a price of almost 40 euros each. That is significantly more expensive than more robust variants of the provider Tumi estimated by business people, who cost 70 euros in the triple pack (of course without “where is?”). Practical: an airlock can be rechargeable. According to the manufacturer, however, the battery runs only for two months at a time.
Then it is refueled via USB-C. The set-up is via Apple’s “Where is?” App. Scapade emphasizes that the housing is “ultra -resistant (…) to protect against manipulation and wear”. The lock is suitable for both hand and task baggage. The delivery will take place now. Mac & i will take a closer look at the hardware in issue 5/2025. Apple has recently worked directly with airlines to which you can give a release to “Where is?” Devices if luggage is lost.
