Trouble with Microsoft’s OneDrive app for iOS

Various app store reviews with just one star, bad comments and forum postings: Users of Onedrive on the iPhone have had a hard time using Microsoft’s online hard drive as usual. The main problem concerns the main function of the iOS app: the data comparison.

“The data does not synchronize,” writes a Mac & I reader. “Most folders are displayed as empty, while in reality a lot of documents are stored.” Particularly confusing: In the web view and under Windows, the Sync works normal and flawless as usual. But that’s not the only problem.

Furthermore, the upload to OneDrive from the iPhone itself is disturbed. If you use the native files app (files) under iOS, files are currently being created twice-understandable. “One file with the file name assigned and the second file with the date and second -absorber time,” said the person concerned. However, only one of the two files can be opened. Even more confusing: if you delete one of the two files, both disappear.

Further problems from Onedrive for iOS concern other standard functions, such as the colleagues of Golem.de already reported at the beginning of May. So images can no longer be created by camera and then uploaded as usual, which was often used as an alternative backup. The search does not work either. RAW images can no longer be displayed as before, or they are not loaded.

In the US app store, Onedrive currently has an overall rating of 4.7 stars of 5. However, the reviews are sorted by novelty, many 1-star reviews appear. “Fully usable” is about or “gets worse with every update”. The “files can be seen clearly on the PC, but not on the iPhone,” writes another user. There are also reports of access errors in the app. Microsoft has not yet commented on the problems. The latest version of Onedrive for iOS is one week old. However, it should not yet fix the errors, says users.
