Airtag subject instead of Air air cushion: The shoe manufacturer Skechers introduced a series of Airtag-compatible children’s shoes. It seems the first mass-made product of this kind. A compartment hidden under the inner sole offers space for Apple’s coin-sized Bluetooth tracker in one of the two shoes. The child does not feel anything, according to the manufacturer, but parents could “locate the shoe from the iPhone at any time”.
More and more Airtag-compatible products
The one based on Apple’s “Find My” service (in German “where is?”) According to “Find My Skechers” mentioned shoe collection is designed for children aged four to around ten years. The tracker can accommodate in the sole under a firmly screwed lid. The shoes are sold without Airtag.
Since Apple launched the compact trackers over four years ago, a variety of hobby projects as well as commercial products have been released in order to attach objects such as bicycles. Some manufacturers now support Apple’s “Where is?” Network directly in their products, for example in backpacks. These can then also be located in the “Where is?” App without Airtag. There have long been several, much cheaper Airtag alternatives of small providers who largely offer the same functions. Ultra -line radio radio, which also allows a very precise location in the near area, is largely reserved for the Airtags.
When the infancy suddenly rings
Due to stalking cases and abusive use, Apple had to improve several times and integrate further protective functions. In the meantime, iOS- as well as Android devices, warn against when a foreign air day is in tow for a long time. As stalking protection, AIRTAGE also draw attention to themselves with a sound signal if they are separated from the owner’s iPhone for a long time. To what extent this also happens in Airtag children’s shoes and whether the warning tone outside the dowel compartment is audible is to be seen.
In order to enable a location, all of your own and strange Apple devices in Bluetooth range and thus the immediate environment: These transmit the location of the trackers to Apple servers, so that Airtag owner can call it up by “Where is?” APP. The data is protected by end-to-end encryption. So this works well in areas where many people are on the road, such as inner cities. Live tracking is not possible. Whether Airtags are good at all to track the location of their own children has long been questioned in forums.
