Tip: Switch off the trackpad on the MacBook

The trackpad spins on my MacBook. It happens to be mouse movements and clicks, which makes the Mac practically unusable. I no longer want to invest money for repairing the old MacBook. Can the trackpad be disconnected? Then I would only use the mouse.

Yes, you can deactivate the trackpad software side.

You can find the setting in the system setting “Operating aids” under “Zeiger control” (formerly “Mouse & Trackpad”).

Activate the switch there on “Ignore integrated trackpad if a mouse or a wireless trackpad is connected”.

As the name of the option suggests, the trackpad is only deactivated if an alternative input device is actually connected or connected via Bluetooth.
