Tip: Restore Finder View | Heise online

In the MacOS finder I can no longer sort my iCloud folder alphabetically. The first column is titled with “from 100 MB to 1 GB” instead of “name”. How do I get the usual sorting back?

You have changed the presentation so that the finder sorts your files by group (and then file sizes). This happens sometimes and can be useful in certain applications.

This is how it goes back: If you have called up the affected folder, go to the button with the three points in the Finder window.

Simply select the hook on “Use groups” here.

Now the first column is “name” again and you can sort the files alphabetically by clicking.

But groups can also be useful: This is how the content can be sorted by file types, application, tags, creation date and some more.
