Tip: Deactivate automatic translation on YouTube

For some videos, the video portal automatically translates both titles and soundtrack in German. Unfortunately, that usually sounds horrible. Where can you switch off that permanently?

YouTube unfortunately forces all users the automatic translation if the channel owner has not deactivated them.

As a user, you cannot permanently deselect the function. The main language and other understood languages can be determined in the Google account under “Personal Data> General Settings for the Web> Language”, but the “auto-dubbing” spurned does not disappear.

Mac users can help themselves with the free plug-in “YouTube no translation”. It prevents the automatic translation via AI. Unfortunately, YouTube no translation is not available for safari, but for Google Chrome and Mozillas FirefoxYou install the plug-in via the link on the web code.

Enter “About: Addons” (Firefox) or “Chrome: // Extensions/” in the search field to activate it. After that, YouTube shows videos without translation in the original language.

For safari you can expand the expansion “Vinegar – Tube Cleaner” Install that costs just under 2 euros.

From version 3.3.1, the MAC variant prevents the automatic translation, iOS plug-in from version 3.3.2. Mind you only apply in the browser, not in the YouTube app.

After installation, make sure that the plug-in is switched on under “Settings> Apps> Safari> Vinegar”. Then call the browser www.youtube.com. In the address bar, tap the icon to the left of the URL and activate the “Ignore Ai Dubs” option under “Vinegar”.
