My Apple Watch has recently switched to the media renewal dial as soon as I start music or podcasts on the iPhone. I always have to press the crown to return to the normal dial. How do I get rid of this behavior?
You have probably just updated your watch on Watchos 11. Here the smartwatch automatically displays all the so-called live activities that you started on the iPhone. To this end, Watchos opens the smart stack independently, which is reminiscent of a dial with the prominent date and clockwork. You can also open it by turning the digital crown up – and again down to close.
Basic functions that you see on the iPhone blocking screen are now live activities; This includes controlling music playback and active timers. Apps can also support this to display sports results or a countdown.
To adapt the behavior, open the watch app on the iPhone: In the “My Watch” view, you will find all important settings under “Smart stack”. At the top you can completely switch off the function via the general switch “Allow live activities”. Alternatively, only deactivate the rapidly disturbing automatic fading of the smart stack: Share the switch to the left for “Start live activities”.
Sometimes it makes more sense to turn the display of live activity only for certain apps. This can be carried out below. There you will find a collection category for “media apps” (such as music and podcast playback) and the individual apps.
Scroll in the section “Mirrine iPhone Live activity from” to the app, the live activities of which you no longer want to see on the watch. Tap them and then deactivate “mirror live activity of iPhone”. The live activity then no longer appears on the watch, but still on the iPhone blocking screen and-depending on the model-also on the upper edge of the screen in the Dynamic Island.
