Thin iPhone 17 Air: speculation about small battery

Apple’s most exciting iPhone this year is said to be the iPhone 17 Air – supposedly the manufacturer’s thinnest smartphone so far. But with the flatness, compromises come: apparently the built -in battery also shrinks because there is not enough space for it. Apple has already integrated new AI battery measures in the upcoming operating system iOS 26, which are apparently supposed to help that the 17 Air (relatively) get well through the day of use. Now a Weibo Leaker with many followers has once again unpacked information on how narrow-breasted the Air battery really turns out.

According to “Instant Digital”, which wants to have contacts in Apple’s supply chain, the battery of the 17 Air lands on “Under 3000 mAh”. Only thanks to the new electricity savingodi does the device create one day with “moderate use”. The flat iPhone becomes a “backup model”.

There have already been rumors that the flat iPhone could land at 2800 mAh. This is not brand new for Apple: iPhone 12 and 13 sometimes came with a correspondingly small battery, the mini models even under 2300 mAh. However, it is unclear whether this can be compared to the 17 Air.

Apple is said to have determined in internal tests that have already run that between 60 and 70 percent of the 17 Air users come through the day with a battery charge. That would be below the scale of 80 to 90 percent with not so flat iPhones. Supposedly the housing should be a good 5.5 mm thick. There are already Android devices that beat this thinness.

It would be conceivable that Apple delivers a battery housing for the 17 Air that not only protects the device, but also supplies them with electricity. However, this in turn would be a counter -career of the purpose of the device: Many users will use the 17 Air without any shell, because only then will it stay as nice as the Apple. How well the AI functions work in iOS 26 work must also be proven. In the past, Appel had already implemented a controversial secret performance throttle in the past with a battered battery, which was later placed in option. But a lame iPhone that is only flat does not want a customer.
