The Apple accessory specialist Nomad has launched an unusual product: a headset in the form of a telephone listener. The Pop phon offers a USB-C universal connection and should serve the (at least potentially) more convenient phone calls and prevent voicechates. An “ergonomic design” therefore meets “crystal-clear sound” including “plug and talk” functionality: This means that you just have to plug in the headset in the device so that it is recognized and used as a speaker and microphone.
All USB-C devices compatible
iPhone owners can use the pop phone from the iPhone 15 (plus entire 16 and 17 series including Air), Lightning devices are not supported. All USB-C-capable Android devices should also be ready for use. Finally, USB-C laptops of all brands (including MacBooks) as well as tablets with USB-C such as the iPad or the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. Depending on the device, you have to select in the settings that the pop phone becomes input and output device.
The headset weighs 252 grams, so it shouldn’t be too easy. Otherwise, it optically corresponds to the look of typical listeners from the 1980s (and earlier). There is a spiral cable to the connection. The product was made from recycled TPU, ABS and polycarbonate. Inside there is a zinking that is also used to make the feel right.
Many colors, reasonable price
Nomad builds the pop phone in total eight colors. It is alarm red (towards orange), pine, black, sandstone (a little like ivory), Lemon, Candy (a light pink tone), azur (direction violet) and slate green (a green tone). Native Union had already had the Pop Phone in the past in the past, now brought it back to the company’s 15th birthday. The USB-C universal connection is new.
“His familiar form makes calls simple, pleasant and human again,” says the manufacturer about his device. “Technology should serve people, not the other way around.” With almost 40 euros plus shipping (currently over 6 euros after Germany), the “hardware” is not cheap for a gimmick. Delivery begins now.
