Supposedly because of Meta: Apple now wants to build a display glasses

The “Vision Air”, which is circulating in the rumor mill, as a lighter and cheaper variant of the Vision Pro, planned for 2027, will now not come. Apple, possibly in response to Metas Ray-Ban Display, should now follow a smart glasses with a display with its integrated screen on the right side.

That reports the Financial news agency Bloomberg. According to the report, Apple initially paused the project in order to shit out resources for a “urgent project”. Apple has been working on augmented reality devices in glasses form for many years-the Vision Pro is said to be only an intermediate step. However, the group is obviously only progressing slowly. In the meantime, it was said that Apple Plane Smart Glasses without a display only with loudspeakers and voice control, as you know them from the regular meta ray bans (and now also Oakleys). It is conceivable that they will come before. Overall, however, Apple is behind Meta, which the Ray-Ban display wants to put on the market promptly.

The now paused project for the “Vision Air” is called N100 internally. The device should supposedly become half as heavy and half as expensive as the Vision Pro. Last week, however, the company announced internally that it wanted to withdraw people from the project and to accelerate the work on glasses. At least two variants are said to be planned. “N50″ is a model without a display that will be shown next year and will be on the market in 2027, Bloomberg writes, citing informed circles. At the same time, glasses with a screen are to come, which was initially planned for 2028, but is now to appear earlier. It remains to be seen how much this corresponds to the idea of ”real” AR glasses. These need two screens in both glasses.

Regardless of whether with or without a display: Apple’s glasses should put “strong” on interactions by language and AI – two areas in which Apple is considered to be behind the competition. A new variant of the voice assistant Siri, which had already been postponed, is currently being made. This system is intended to lay the basis for other devices such as glasses, cameras, speakers and smart displays. The Apple glasses should contain a special chip, play music via loudspeakers and bring a camera with you.

Apple is said to have always planned to have a more compact and lighter model followed on the Vision Pro, but the project was deleted in favor of a larger renovation. Now the “Vision Air” has also been set up. Smart Glasses, internally called “N107”, should not exist with the Mac. However, what is still coming is a vision pro 2: This was recently leaked in a database of the US authority FCC. It should have an M4 or M5 chip and a somewhat more convenient headband. At the high price (4000 euros at least with the vision per), little will change.
