At the developer conference I/O, Google has now focused on Android XR for “Smart Glasses”. The glasses with cameras, microphones and partly of an information display should provide useful functions as everyday companions and use Gemini as AI and Google’s services. While concrete products are still standing, the Metas Ray-Ban glasses are already classic sunglasses on the market. They make photos and videos, play music and are equipped with Metas AI. Apple is also said to work on a similar product.
In Episode 50, Leo Becker and Mark Zimmermann, Head of Mobile Software at EnBW, discuss the meaning and everyday suitability of Google’s Android XR demos and the possible areas of application. We also concerned us where Apple could score with its own glasses and how crucial a complete Siri restart is. Becker also describes initial experiences with a meta-ray Ban and the hooked interaction with the iPhone. We also talk about the missing functions in visionos that we hope for version 3.
