Series 11 and Ultra 3: Apple extends the Watch battery life

Apple’s new smartwatches are a moderate upgrade: the top watches Series 11 and Ultra 3 only offer minor improvements. The Series 11 comes with 5G, the Ultra 3 with 5G, slightly larger screen and satellite radio – it was more or less. New health functions such as high blood pressure warning and the sleeping index are also available for older models. However, it is positive: Apple has screwed on the battery life.

24 hours with a standard Apple Watch

So the Series 11 should run for the first time for the first time. Most recently, Apple had always meant only 18 hours with “All-Day Battery Life”. Apple does not currently do information about the capacity of the built -in battery – whether these are delivered was initially unclear. Apple had already published the battery information on the iPhone due to the new EU energy label regulation.

How exactly the additional six hours of Series 11 succeed also stayed in the dark. It could also have to do with software optimizations as part of Watchos 26. Because in terms of processors (system-in-a-package, SIP), Apple has made no changes in Series 11 and Ultra 3: Both models still run with the S10 from the previous year, which is ultimately just a reduced S9 that was adjusted in 2024 for the flatter Series 10. Apparently it was not enough for an S11 – since it would probably have been only marginally faster, the retention of the S10 is actually “honest”. Previously, Apple had installed a new SIP in every Watch model year, even if it was only minimally new.

The Ultra 3 also turns on the battery

Fans of the Apple Watch Ultra can also look forward to more battery power in the third generation of the watch. It should now run for six hours more-42 instead of 36 hours with the pre-model Ultra 2. In low-power mode, however, it remains 72 hours. Here, too, it remains unclear where the actual optimization takes place. Apple installs the LPTO3 display from the Series 10 and said 5G modem.

The battery life at the new SE 3 remains unchanged. The entry-level model among the Apple computer clocks still runs 18 hours at a time. It is considered particularly attractive this year, since, among other things, always-on screen, faster charging and double tip gestures have been implemented-and the S10 is also on board.
