Samsung confirms Foldable display order from “American company”

Samsung Leak apparently Apple’s foldable plans: The display subsidiary of the South Korean Group announced at a press event last week that the screen manufacturer had a new order from a “North American customer” who wants to buy an “OLED for foldable telephones”. That writes that Economic portal Chosunbiz.

Samsung Display President Lee Cheong did not say which customers are dealing with, but nobody except Apple is an option. In parallel to the mass production of the new foldable screen, to which he did not give any technical details, the production of OLEDs for IT devices in the new generation also begins. Lee continued to foldable that they were “in the middle of the preparations” and they went well. He cannot provide specific information about the customer.

The market is currently expecting Apple to come out with its first foldable in September 2026. Finally, it was said that it was a kind of doubled iPhone Air. However, it can be assumed that it will be much thinner again. The currently 5.64 mm at the thinnest point of the air beat Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge, foldables such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 but open down to 4.2 mm, since they can arrange the components and the battery using a larger area.

The rumor mill has long been clear that Samsung Display will deliver the screen. According to several reports, Apple has it produced on his exact specifications. Boe is currently in the iPhone Panels from Samsung, LG and – especially in the Chinese market. Apple wants a particularly smooth screen without the famous folk “ironing fold”. The company also works on a new hinge that should be particularly durable.

Apple has long been able to implement its foldable plans. The first Galaxy Fold cell phone from Samsung was launched in 2019. The new hardware allegedly comes with A20 SoC, two (or three) rear cameras and possibly the fingerprint sensor Touch ID again, because there may be no space for a face ID face recognition. The price is likely to be 2000 euros and more.
