Sagging Apple: Smart glasses allegedly not until the end of 2026

Apple is apparently promoting the development of Smart Glasses: The aim is to launch such a Ki glasses-code name N401-at the end of 2026, as Bloomberg reports, citing informed people. In the current year, the manufacturer already wants to produce a large amount of glasses prototypes, which is therefore equipped with cameras, microphones and speakers. As an Apple’s long -term goal, the aim is to build classic glasses in which content is also shown in the user’s field of vision. However, this does not seem the case with the product planned for the end of 2026.

Apple’s first glasses generation resembles the long-available Ray-Ban Meta Glasses, but is “better done”, it says in the report of the financial news agency. There are also cameras, microphones and loudspeakers in the classic Ray-Ban models, but no technique for displaying information or content. They also communicate with the smartphone to play music, to dictate WhatsApp messages or to speak to METAS AI models. Ray-Ban and Meta’s glasses now seem to have significant demand: Ray Ban manufacturers Essilorluxottica reports to significantly increase production.

The state of Siri and Apple Intelligence is considered to be a problem child: a reasonably normal conversation is currently not possible with the Apple AI and even on simple voice commands, Siri sometimes fails-fatal for interaction with smart glasses. With “visual intelligence”, Apple Intelligence offers a camera mode for the iPhone, which would also be suitable for smart glasses, but the range of functions has so far been extremely limited. Fallback for the Apple AI are chatt and Google’s image search.

The market for smart glasses is increasingly in motion, because Google also wants to play there with Android XR and has recently called the first hardware partner and glasses manufacturer who are working on products. An introduction of the Apple Glasses at the end of 2026 could also overlap with the first Openai hardware: Apple’s former chief designer Jony Ive-together with other high-ranking ex-Apple designers and interface experts-for the chatt maker on a first AI device. However, this is said to be neither glasses nor a different type of wearable that is permanently worn on the body.

According to Bloomberg, Apple has now buried another AI project: The group has actively worked on an Apple Watch with an integrated camera, but this has ended since this week. However, the development of AirPods with camera will continue.
