“Request to Pay”: Apple Store allows new payment options – with horse foot

Apple has introduced a new payment option in its German online shop that can be used to pay directly from your own bank account. The procedure called “Request to Pay” (R2P) is implemented with the service provider Deutsche Bank and comes for customers with a few disadvantages, while Apple sees his money faster. It is particularly worthwhile if you do not have a credit or debit card or prefer to check your expenses directly than to wait for a credit card statement.

To use R2P, put your orders in the shopping cart as usual. The payment page appears after the address input. “Bank transfer” can now be selected on this. Then you enter your IBAN account details. Not every bank currently supports the procedure. In the case of some direct bank, it appears that the order is only carried out delayed because the transfer takes one to three days. Otherwise, for example from the Volksbanken: If such an IBAN is entered, you immediately land on a form where you should enter your access data (here: the VR-netkey). This then works after one Standardized procedurewhich has existed in the SEPA room since 2021: you transfer directly from your own online banking to Apple.

As mentioned, the service provider is Deutsche Bank. This then also receives the personal data for the “provision of these services” – their data protection conditions also apply accordingly. Information on payment such as the invoice number is automatically transmitted to online banking so that Apple can assign the data. Deutscha Bank is now said to be the procedure according to a report by financial scene Implemented with a three -digit number of dealers have.

However, the possible disadvantages of R2P are obvious: Similar to pure debit cards, customers pay the costs immediately, the amount goes off the account and is initially gone. With returns and/or other problems, you have to hope that the backbook will take place quickly. If you pay with a credit card, depending on the payment period, you have up to a month to transfer the money – with a little luck, the amount for a return arrives before you have to pay the invoice.

Consumer protection offers are also rather critical at R2P. So writes Finance tipit is always certain to make transfers only when the goods are already preserved. “Or you rely on payment methods such as credit card and Co., where there are further locks – for example charging or buyer protection.”
