Loading through update: The new features in iOS 26 include activating the Qi2.2 charging function for four iPhone-16 models. The variants 16, 16 plus, 16 per and 16 per max can then be supplied inductively with electricity as part of the standard with up to 25 watts if there is a suitable charger. The first models are slowly coming onto.
With Magsafe alone it works
Qi2.2 is the successor to Qi2 with its maximum 15 watts, which in turn has internal refuses to Magsafe, since Apple now coincides with the formulation of the standard. With Magsafe alone, the charging with 25 watts has been possible for a long time, provided that you invest in a current Magsafe charging puck from Apple and at least 30 watts capable power supply. The compatibility with pure Qi2.2 loaders for maximum charging speed is again made with iOS 26.
It can be assumed that the new devices of the iPhone-17 line will support Qi2.2 right from the start. However, Apple’s current entry-level iPhone, the 16e, is not covered. The reason for this is that the hardware does not even have Magsafe. Instead, you can charge (unmagnetically) with a maximum of Qi1 and 7.5 watts. You don’t see Apple internal interest in customers. Accordingly, there will be no upgrade to Qi2.2.
Triple loader with Qi2.2 and Magsafe
The manufacturer Kuxiu, known for its smart connector loaders for the iPad and other accessory products, is one of the first providers of Qi2.2-certified chargers. The X40 Turbo is a foldable 3-in-1 charging stand that can also be used for normal magic. It can charge iPhone, Apple Watch and Airpods at the same time, so it has a loading area for smartphones and Apple plugs plus rear loading puck for the Apple Watch. The device available in black and gray costs just under 70 euros and is already being delivered. A power supply including charging cables and bags are in the package.
With Qi2.2, up to 25 watts can be handled by induction to the iPhone. It initially remained unclear whether this is already possible via Magsafe-as with Apple-or iPhone-16 users first have to wait until iOS 26 with Qi2.2 support appears. The beta of iOS 26 already dominates Qi2.2.
