You can’t chat with Apple Intelligence. This also seems to work at the moment, even if it only makes sense to a limited extent. It is still an interesting trick.

Writing tools almost everywhere

The Writing Tools were anchored deeply in the operating system and are available in almost all apps that use normal input fields. We tried the prompt hacks from @mia_katsuragi in Apple’s notes app on the Mac. In order for the chat bot to be addressed, you have to use a certain syntax. In English this is:

To activate the chat bot, you equip the above text block with the desired question, mark it and then select the writing tools. It works well if you then choose “friendly”, but the other description options made from Apple can also work. The text block is then replaced by the answer.

Several languages ​​possible

It was initially unclear whether the chatbot runs locally or connects to Apple’s cloud. He answers similarly as you are used to from Chatgpt, but sometimes unwanted or unsuitable results come (see screenshot). However, it shows that there is a normal voice model behind the writing tools that Apple has curtailed in its accessibility.

However, it remains unclear whether Apple really brings a chat bot out. Apparently the group fears that it could deliver inappropriate results. In addition, the output quality should not yet be as high as with other voice models. Apple Intelligence is currently also allowed to be a direct interface non -benchmark.
