The rumors have come true: YouTube brings back its Premium Lite tariff. The option in Germany will soon be available for 5.99 euros per month, has announced the video platform. In addition, the pilot project was also extended to the USA for the first time.

The lite variant differs from the almost 13 euro premium tariff in that, according to YouTube, no advertising interruptions are displayed “for most videos”, while no advertising is displayed at the full tariff. This applies in particular to music and music videos. In addition, customers in full tariff also have the option of downloading videos for offline playback and playing them off in the background.
More countries in preparation
The video streaming platform said that YouTube currently has around 125 million music and premium subscribers worldwide. However, test tabs are also included in this number. Apparently, YouTube wants to further increase their number with the lite tariff. For this year, the expansion was promised to other countries.
The premium liter subscription is not new. It was presented in 2021, but was only available to individual users in different countries. At the end of 2023, existing subscribers were issued. Then the option reappeared sporadically. The current variant is one euro than the one of the time.
There is no question of a discounted annual subscription or a family subscription. For example, YouTube also offers an option as a family tariff for the almost 13 euro premium tariff, which costs just under 24 euros per month.
