The next update of the operating system for the Apple Watch is intended to ensure that users no longer sleep so easily. With Watchos 11.4 it can then be selected that the alarm clock app awakens with a noise even with a silent watch. This has not yet been possible and some have simply not noticed the gentle tapping on the wrist while sleeping.
The new option, which is called “Break Through Silent Mode” in English, can be found in the Sleep app on the Apple Watch. There must first be typed onto the alarm clock icon at the top left. If the alarm clock is activated, there is an entry “tones and feel” behind which the new setting is hidden. The option should also be found in the alarm app if an active alarm clock is selected there.
Release Candidate published
On Monday together with iOS 18.4 of the release candidate for Watchos 11.4 was published. If there are no subsequent changes, this will correspond to the final version, which is expected for the end of March or early April.
Otherwise Watchos 11.4 contains only smaller changes: A bug that when changing dials ensured that the clock could no longer be operated, according to Apple. In addition, the operating system will support Matter-Compatible robot vacuum cleaners in its smart home control. This function was supposed to come, but was still a long time coming.
Completion of Watchos 11
The new version completes Watchos 11, which Apple presented at the WWDC developer conference in June 2024. The new functions of the 11-er update include the possibility of pausing activity rings for a certain period of time, and further personalizations in the fitness app. There are also changes in the widgets that are more interactive, and the smart stack has also supported live activities since Watchos 11.
