New Thunderbolt-5-Dock from OWC with many ports

Thick dock: A total of eleven ports brings the simple Thunderbolt 5 Dock named new expansion boxes from the US provider Other World Computing (OWC). This allows devices such as the MacBook Pro M4 or the Mac Mini M4 to be addressed with TB5 with a maximum throughput of 80 GB/s – there are even up to 120 GB/s (all gross values) for displays. Among other things, ports for microphone/headset, microSD and SD via UHS-II, Ethernet (2.5 GBE) and three USB-A ports with USB 3.2 and 5 or 10 GB/s are included.

Technically, it is also possible to address up to three displays with 8k and 60 Hertz via the OWC dock, which Apple is currently not (yet) allowed via Thunderbolt 5, since only two screens are allowed per host port. However, you can use the display link technology as an alternative, but for which you possibly an adapter needed. With two 8K screens, the OWC dock creates 120 Hertz each. A total of four are at TB5 ports, one for the host.

Useful: Thanks to its own power supply, the OWC dock delivers up to 140 watts via TB5. How big the “Powerbrick” is for this could initially be determined. OWC is currently showing the Thunderbolt-5 dock in Taiwan at the Computex Mass, and availability can be expected from July. The price is $ 330 plus tax.

Meanwhile, the delivery situation for pure TB5 hubs with many USB-C ports has improved somewhat. The Thunderbolt 5 element 5 hub Caldigit, who had already been announced in spring, can now be ordered in Europe, and Great Britain is delivered from the camp. The price of no tax is 250 euros. The hub comes with three TB5 ports, two USB-C data ports (10 GB/s) plus USB-A (10 GB/s) three times.

OWC already has an available Thunderbolt-5 hub on offerThe TB5 ports led outside comes-plus USB A (10 GB/s) and TB5 host port. It costs $ 190 plus tax at the manufacturer, in German trade (from € 214.10) you pay a little more. This can quickly expand the range of TB5 ports on a Mac. An external power supply is included.
