New MagSafe battery: Apple recycled battery of the iPhone Air

At the start of the iPhone Air, Apple delivers its own additional battery for the thinnest smartphone that the manufacturer has ever fabricated: with the Magsafe battery For 115 euros, the cell phone should receive 65 percent more juice – and thus better be over the day. This can be seen from the shape of the battery and from its specifications: the latter is 3149 mAh with the same voltage as on the cell phone.

Magsafe kills the efficiency

Why the Magsafe battery does not doublet the battery performance of the iPhone Air is due to the loading technology, the fact that electrical implementers are in between-and Apple’s caution: You don’t want to provide the full 3149 mAh about the inductive connection, which the 35 percent minus explains. The first tests have to show whether it is really only 65 percent or a little more. Freshly unpacked devices are likely to be in a calibration phase anyway, which is why you should wait at least one to two weeks for stable checks.

Otherwise, iFixit said that the battery ran at 12.26 Wh and measures 2.72 mm at the thickest point. Of course, this is thin enough for the 5.64 mm of the iPhone Air. The battery is also in a metal housing to protect it. Other components of the Magsafe battery are a small board and above all a lot of plastic and the necessary magnetic technology. This means that the battery pack is thicker overall than the iPhone Air itself. Titan is not found in it.

Just fits the iPhone Air

Apple had designed the Magsafe battery especially for the iPhone Air. Due to its length and arrangement of the Magsafe Ring, it does not fit the iPhone-17 models (except obliquely, which is, however, undesirable), since the “Camera Plateau” (17 Pro, 17 Pro Max) or the regular camera unit (17) is covered or reached.

The group had its own battery packs for the iPhone with Magsafe (as “Magsafe Battery Pack”) in the program for several years, but then deleted them from the online store. In the meantime, only anchors & Co. deliver their own variants here.
