New Macs supposedly already this week – iPads still need something

Apple could present a new generation of the MacBook Air in the coming days. “Already this week” the devices could be presented writes the financial news agency Bloomberg. The stocks of the current variants in Apple and its resellers should therefore be low and an announcement could be “in the next few days”. Also expected new iPad models should also need a little longer, even if the pre-models are also difficult (ER) than usual.

MacBook Air with M4

The MacBook Air is currently available with 13 and 15-inch screen and M3 SoC. It came onto the market in March 2024. Not much changes on the hardware: Apple plans to install the M4 from the MacBook Pro, the Mac Mini and the iMac. The form factor should remain the same, it is only conceivable that Apple donates new colors to the housing.

With the M4 there is a slight increase in speed, which could be 25 percent in the multi-core company-which, however, rarely occurs in everyday life. The minimum RAM equipment is now likely to be 16 GB. The M4 has 10 CPU and 10 GPU cores. A slight improvement in battery life is also expected. At Apple you currently pay at least 1300 euros for the MacBook Air, the variant with 15 inches costs 300 euros more.

iPad with two new models

According to Bloomberg, new models will appear “soon” at the iPad – whether in the next week or later, it is unclear. It should be the iPad Air M3 and the iPad 11. The iPad Air is likely to run a little faster than the previous model with M2, the iPad 11 also – the latter could jump on the A17 Pro to provide Apple Intelligence. In the meantime there was speculation about switching to the M4 at Ipad Air, but the model would then be too close to the iPad Pro M4.

Other new systems that are expected in the coming months are Mac Pro M4 and Mac Studio M4 – both model series have so far remained on the M2, although they are professional machines. A direct jump to the M5 is also conceivable, at least that would like many buyers. When the new Apple Silicon SoC will appear exactly, it is still unclear. Last year the M4 celebrated its debut in the iPad Pro – unusual for Apple.
