How much more expensive are iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max and the 17 Air? It has been known since spring that Apple seems to be planning a general price increase in its smartphones. Now there is an initial assessment of how strong it could be: according to one Note to investors Apple will apparently turn the investment company Jefferies comparatively mildly on the price screw.
Price poker up
As Analyst Edison Lee reports, Apple will start a price of at least $ 50 for models 17 Air (which calls Lee “Slim”), 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, but there are also rumors that all model rows are affected. In the United States, this would mean that the entry -level iPhone 17 entry model then costs $ 849 instead of $ 799.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max would start at $ 1249 instead of $ 1199 (each without sales tax). With the 17 Air, however, it is not yet known which price Apple sets because it has no direct predecessor-the current 16-plus model that is probably replacing the particularly thin device is sold from $ 899. Jefferies currently evaluates the Apple share with “keep”, but not with “buy”. In the second quarter, Apple is said to have succeeded in achieving up to 22 percent growth through mobile phone providers in the United States (Apple publishes its quarterly figures on Thursday).
Component costs and tariffs
The reason for the price increases is that Apple has to compensate for “increasing component costs” plus the tariffs used under the Trump administration to China goods. Apple had relocated large production capacities to India, but punitive tariffs are also threatened here, because the United States wants Apple to bring the iPhone “back home”, although it had never been produced there. Apple supposedly wants to make sure that the price increase is not associated with tariffs.
Which price changes will be in Europe is still unclear. Apple basically demands more money in this country-despite falling dollar course. For the cheap iPhone 16, you pay 949 euros without a contract, and the Pro models starts at 1199 euros. A maximum of 1949 euros can be left at Apple for a fully equipped iPhone 16 Pro Max (1 TB). The new iPhones of the 17 series are expected in September.
