The Neobank N26 is expanding its business and now offers mobile phone contracts. As a network operator, Vodafone is on board.
Just a few days after the announcement by N26 CEO Valentin Stalf in a Bloomberg interview, Starting into the mobile phone market does the Neobank nails with heads: From now on, German customers of the bank can book and activate mobile phone tariffs directly via the N26 app.
N26 SIM: Neobank with three tariff options
The company offers for N26 customers Three different tariffs At 10, 30 or 100 GB data volume, which cost 13.99, 19.99 and 34.99 euros per month. A physical SIM card does not offer N26, all tariffs are only offered with an ESIM for which a compatible smartphone is required.
A flat rate for national calls and SMS as well as free roaming in the EU is included in all tariffs. The N26 SIM relies on the 5G network of Vodafone Germany and is provided in cooperation with the mobile phone partner 1Global.
Contract conclusion and tariff management in the N26 app
An N26 SIM tariff is booked via the N26 app. Activation of the ESIM and the management of the mobile phone tariff also takes place in the app. In addition, the company promises that users can switch between several phone numbers and tariffs on one device in order to separate private and professional use or to remain flexible abroad.
N26 also emphasizes that fixed contractual times are eliminated due to a monthly notice period. In addition, users can change their booked tariff every month if they need more or less data volume.
In order to be able to use the bank’s mobile phone tariff, an N26 bank account is required. At the moment, the offer is not available to all of the bank’s customers: the gradual introduction of N26 SIM is initially carried out for private customers in Germany, business customers are still excluded. N26 also intends to expand the offer “in due course” to other European markets.
With the offer, N26 comes to the competitor Revolut, who had only announced a few days ago, to enter the mobile phone market during the year.
