Problems with Microsoft’s Exchange-Online systems have been known since Thursday, which caused access to mailboxes on Outlook.com or with the Outlook clients for desktops. Microsoft initially only localized the problem with private customers. In the meantime, it is clear: the problem continues, and business customers are also affected by the disorders.
Microsoft in the Microsoft365 admin center under the ticket number (Issueid) EX1113110. The ticket was opened on Friday night, the error description is: “When trying to access your mailbox, all users could be affected with any connection method.” The cause is a “multi-layered problem within the processing infrastructure” by Microsoft, which has generated excessive inquiries to the backend components. This led to high resource consumption, which was expressed in Mailbox access problems for end users.
Status update on Monday of this week
The current status update from Monday says that the error correction of the underlying problem has “saturated 71 percent of the infrastructure affected”, the service availability remains “healthy”. As a precaution, the engineers have deliberately slowed down the distribution to ensure that no interruptions occur within the top business hours. “Based on our telemetry, we have not observed any further disorders since our initial countermeasures. We continue to monitor the service closely until the underlying problem has been solved,” the Redmonders continue to write.
That sounds positive at first, but it means that people still cannot access their mailboxes-and not only private end customers, but also professionally working with the Microsoft services. Colleagues affected also also exist at Heise media.
While Microsoft has reported the problems in the cloud status last week, it now does not write any disorders. “All Products are operational” it says there on a green reason.
