Apple has updated its in-house digital audio workstation software Logic Pro for iPad and Mac. The updates on Version 11.2 and Version 2.2 (iPad) provide a number of useful new features for the DAWs. This includes the so-called flashback absorption, with which improvisations and other ideas developed with LOGIC are automatically recorded so that they can be called up again. Logic Pro thus remains in the background during recording mode. On the iPad there is also the Learn-Midi function for the first time to control plug-ins, instruments and parameters using a “preferred MIDI device”.
Divide the stems and new sound packages
IPAD and MAC now dominate an improved automatic division of stems. So you can also insulate guitar and piano for the first time. On request, the submix feature generates instrumental and pulls out drums/bass. New presets allow the creation of STEM mix sets in frequently used categories.
On the iPad there is a new drum-and-bass sound package called DANCEBLOOR Rush, on the Mac there are also “Magnetic Imperfections” (for analog-like sound) and “Tosin Abasi” (metal guitar sounds). On the Mac there is also an improved “search and select” function, which now also knows the name and track number. On the MAC, Logic Pro now dominates Apple’s AI function Writing Tools including a chatgpt interface. The flashback recording available on iPad and Mac comes with a cycle mode, in which Takes automatically land in a take folder. The automatic recording also copes with external sources (including MIDI).
Mac in a complete purchase, iPad only as a subscription
Logic Pro costs almost 230 euros under MacOS as a full version in the Mac App Store. Apple has a 90 -day running demo version On his website. MacOS 14.4 or higher.
