What about Apple with the iPhone after the group presented its (probably four) 17-series models next month? There are now new information from South Korea and China for two cheap iPhones. Some are rather positive, the others – at least for fans of a series – rather negative.
End end at Apple comes
The good news: Apparently Apple will launch a successor to the iPhone 16E (published in February 2025) in spring. The Chinese Leaker Digital Chat Station, which has plenty of followers at the Weibo short message service, allegedApple will significantly improve the device. Instead of based on the iPhone 14, the design should be new.
For the first time, no “notch” is planned for the Face ID module as the 16E, but a full-fledged Dynamic Island to accommodate additional information. The look could be based on the iPhone 15 accordingly. Apple allegedly installed the A19 chip that is expected in iPhone 17. Other hardware information according to the digital chat station: a 6.1-inch display (such as iPhone standard models and the 16e), no promotion technique (i.e. 60 Hertz instead of 120), a 12-megapixel selfie camera and a rear 48 megapixel camera (both as with the 16e). The cheap (re) price remains the central sales argument. In Germany, this begins at the iPhone 16E at 699 euros. At least 949 euros are due for an iPhone 16.
iPhone 18: Wait for the year after next
The second fresh iPhone rumor concerns the iPhone 18, i.e. another device that follows the 17-man models. The electronic specialist sheet published in South Korea Etnews writesthat the standard variant will only be released in the 1st half of 2027. There had been speculation earlier. Etnews are now based on Apple’s supply circles, some of which are available in South Korea. The component manufacturers are said to have already been advised that this change exists. According to this, Apple will initially be launched with four iPhone models in autumn 2026, of which one of which will be a foldable for the first time.
This means that Apple no longer has a place for the iPhone 18, since no more than four models are to be presented. In addition to Apple’s folding smartphone, this would be an iPhone 18 Air (thin model), iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 per max. With the iPhone 18 as the standard model plus a new entry-level model (18E) would then be expected in spring 2027. This would be as many current iPhones than ever in the market in the year – a total of six models.
