Apple has the so-called iPhone Mirroring, in German too iPhone synchronization named, not still approved for MacOS 15 alias sequoia within the European Union. Apple still assumes that the function may fall under the EU Digital Markets (DMA) and would therefore be regulated what the company wants to avoid. Accordingly, the useful feature of local users still does not benefit.
Useful remote control
Apple is implemented as a separate app under Sequoia by Apple. This allows an iPhone that uses the same Apple account as an iCloud access to control the home network. This is done by mouse and keyboard, it is also possible to copy iPhone content to the Mac very easily. The clipboard is also possible (with an existing function). Only the Notification center can currently not be reached on the mobile phone from the Mac, but the device is sufficient to notify the Mac on request. (The control center also only seems to be opened through a shortcut.)
Among other things, the function is helpful if you constantly work on the Mac in the office, but do not want to use the iPhone all the time. It can be switched off from the Mac or from the iPhone at any time. A double operation-i.e. Mac and iPhone at the same time-is not planned, even if iPhone Mirroring opens a new session on the iPhone that cannot be followed on the smartphone itself.
Updates come in April
iPhone-Mirroring can currently only be used in the EU if you use a trick known from Apple Intelligence: the establishment of a US app store account for media and purchases. Then the function is released and can be called up. Otherwise, an error message appears that it is not approved in this country or this region. Since many users use the app store in their home country, this is rarely an option. After all, a domestic Apple account for iCloud can remain activated.
Apple has announced iOS 18.4 and MacOS 15.4 for April. The operating systems should offer access to Apple Intelligence in German for the first time, although this feature was initially exposed to possible DMA regulation. Apple could possibly also change the iPhone Mirroring. However, this has not yet been confirmed. In addition to the iPhone Mirroring, Apple has so far blocked the new remote maintenance function on SharePlay screensharing for iOS and iPados. By the way, the features are active in Switzerland.
