iPhone 17 Pro: various new camera functions leaked

Fresh iPhones will be released around September 8th or 9th. In the meantime, there is a lot of details about the new models, which this time should be available again in four series. Finally came detailed Information about the iPhone 17 Pro (and 17 Pro Max), which the Apple blog Macrumors opened up. According to an anonymous source, which Apple wants to know a commercial for the device pre -produced, there are a number of improvements in the camera that have not yet been leaked through.

Accordingly, Apple plans a new “Pro Camera” app that is suitable for photos and videos. It is said to compete with more professional camera apps and are based on cinema, Halide or Filmic Pro, for example. It initially remained unclear whether the app is only intended for models 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max or for other devices.

It is also new that Apple apparently improves the optical zoom. Instead of an optical five-roof zoom like the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, the telephoto lens on the back is now to create an optical eight-subject zoom. The optics are mobile and should enable different focal lengths. Finally there is supposedly a second Camera-Control button (Camera control) on the upper edge of the devices to get the options faster in other hand positions. The existing camera control from the iPhone 16 is said to be retained.

The iPhone-17-Pro models should receive an overall redesigned rear camera system-including a new arrangement, which extends over the housing width. Three 48 megapixel sensors are said to be installed. Apple should plan to push the video skills particularly strongly.

The plan is to lure vlogger and other creators from stand-alone cameras (such as those of Sony or Nikon) to the iPhone, wrote the Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman Already in spring. Apple had repeatedly screwed to video functions in recent years, most recently to special microphone capabilities, which you now want to release for other apps.
