Nascroo DXOMARK tested the camera of the iPhone 17 Pro Max and awarded it the third position in its ranking, dominated by the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra and Oppo Find X8 Ultra. Today, the site also published tests of the selfie camera of the iPhone 17 Pro, which, it turns out, is the best on the market.
The iPhone 17 Pro scored 154 points and topped the ranking of the French site, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Honor Magic6 Pro below it.
According to DXOMARK, Apple’s new flagship has accurate exposure and wide dynamic range in photos and videos with its front camera. It also achieves good color reproduction, accurate focus and is suitable for group selfies in which all faces are in focus. The depth calculations in the frame are also precise, and this results in a good bokeh effect with background blur.
Despite its leadership position, the model also received some criticism. For example, skin tone is too warm, there is noise in corners when shooting with flash, there is a lack of detail in moving subjects (are we still talking about selfies?), and stabilization could be better.
Let me remind you that in this year’s high-end smartphones, Apple has introduced a brand new selfie camera. It uses a square 18 MP sensor that allows you to take both vertical and horizontal selfies while holding the phone in one position. The selfie camera on the iPhone 17 Pro has an aperture of f/1.9 and autofocus, recording 4K video at up to 60 fps.
