Apple is apparently planning a greater price increase for its iPhone models of the 17 series 17 series. The focus should not be on the focus of the current trade conflict with China, reports the Wall Street Journal Citing informed circles. Instead, “new functions and design changes” would serve as a reason to improve the margin – or at least to maintain.
Price increases not only in the USA
Apple is currently paying a penalty for 20 percent, the so -called Fentanyl Tariff of Trump Administration. Originally, the taxes were even 145 percent, but the US government introduced a 90-day suspension on electronic products. After a preliminary agreement between China and the USA the extremely high punitive tariffs are off the tableinstead, they should be temporarily 10 percent. However, Apple has also set up $ 900 million for the current quarter for the 20 percent. So far, there had been no price increase for current devices for US citizens.
Apple tries to outsource as much iPhone production to India, which could take years. In addition, it is not said whether the rather mild tariffs in comparison to China remains on the subcontinent, which now represents the most populous country on earth. It is also difficult to produce all Pro and Pro-Max models of the iPhone in India.
India only takes over parts of the production
According to Wall Street Journal, the main production will remain in China, since India still seems to be lacking the skills of equivalent mass production. Also increasing pressure on front suppliers to reduce prices is probably canceled, since these could also be affected by import tariffs. One advantage could also have a general increase in price: it would probably not only apply to the United States, but also worldwide, including Europe.
It is currently still unclear how strong Apple would attract prices. The “iPhone 17 Air”, a particularly flat smartphone, could justify higher costs compared to the customers due to its design. At the moment you pay around $ 800 in the USA for the iPhone 16, and at least $ 1200 in the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Plus is available for $ 900 (all prices without sales tax).
