Ipados 17.7.7: Safety update brings system -wide problems

Apple’s update published this week to Ipados 17.7.7 does not bring any new functions to the tablets. Instead were more than two dozen security gaps fixedwhich actually makes a quick import. However, users in various forums now report that their iPad no longer works as usual after the update – there are problems in several places in the system. This reports ifun.de.

Ipados 17.7.7 is intended for all iPads on which Ipados 18.5which also comes with various errors in the area of security, no longer runs. These are, for example, the iPad Pro with a second generation 12.9 inches, the iPad Pro with 10.5 inches and the iPad 6. But after installation, there are apparently serious problems. According to user reports, this includes that the iPad previously made Settings simply forget.

The applications for X, GMX or Duckduckgo can no longer be used normally. Apple’s in-house safari browser is also affected. The IWORK programs Pages and Numbers always start with the welcome screen. The version “is so unusable and unacceptable,” writes a person affected.

What exactly happens here is still unclear. It is conceivable that one of the security fixes integrated in the update has undesirable side effects. Apple screws, among other things, at the areas of iCloud Document Sharing, child locking and sandbox profiles, and the Storekit area has also been changed. One of the fixes may ensure that settings are no longer stored correctly.

There are reports from which the error is said to have occurred as part of the IPADOS 17.7.7 beta phase. Apple allegedly ignored information. The loss of the settings also means that you have to log in to numerous apps. Safari always looks like the app was started for the first time. The error should have nothing to do with a lack of storage space on the devices, especially since you would then receive a warning instead of setting settings. Apple has not yet commented, it remains unclear when a fix appears.
