Ipados 17.7.7: Apple withdraws update for problem reports

After Ipados 17.7.7 was put online as a pure bugfix update with safety-relevant improvements, reports on problems with updating are increasing. Settings of apps are no longer saved and even Apple programs such as pages or safari are reset at every new start. Apple has finally become aware of the problem and has withdrawn the update on Friday night. In some cases, Ipados 17.7.7 still appears in the system settings, but the installation process is denied. The reason for this is the termination of the signing of the update package, making it impossible.

Apple has not yet given any information on what specifically went wrong with Ipados 17.7.7. It is also unclear what users should do who have already recorded the update, the way back to an earlier version is usually blocked. One solution would probably only be if Apple would provide a new build from iPados 17.7.7 that no longer contains the errors. It is still unclear when this happens – as long as users have to work with a tablet that is difficult to work.

The error picture is shown across apps: whether you now open Apple apps or Tikok, Duckduckgo or another application, all forget the respective login. How this happens remains unclear, but Apple had More than two dozen security gaps Fixed, some of which are very systemy. Such problems are not known by iOS 18.5 and iPados 17.7.7, which were published together with iPados 17.7.7. There were also reports, according to which users reported the problems as part of the beta test of Ipados 17.7.7, but did not receive any response from Apple. It is unusual that such an extensive error image is not noticed.

According to user information, the usual debugging measures do not help with the problem. Screen time, restrictions or MDM configurations are just as no fault as other settings. Even a complete reset of the device does not help.

Ipados 17.7.7 is intended for devices such as the iPad of the sixth generation, the iPad Pro with 10.5 inches or the second generation of the iPad Pro with 12.9 inches. Later models all master ipados 18.5, which should also be used if possible, since only all known security holes were stuffed there.
