IPAD FOLDABLE: Analyst sees shift to 2027

An analyst that had previously suspected that Apple will add a foldable tablet to his program for the first time in the coming year, the introduction now sees at least a year later. In a note to investors that Jeff PU brought out of GF Securities from Hong Kong and Macrumors is presentit says, a “foldable device with 18.8 inches” was probably “postponed” by Apple. PU, who is one of the more reliable Apple Augen, had previously typed in 2026, the same year in which the first iPhone foldable is also expected.

However, with his statement, PU only takes over positions from other Apple observers. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman believes in a foldable iPad only later-but typed last year Rather on 2028 instead of 2027. In his view, the device should become “gigantic”, such as two iPad-Pro models side by side. It remains to be seen whether Apple stays at 18.8 inches or even goes up to 20 inches.

It is also unclear whether the device is actually an iPad or rather a MacBook. Apple always emphasizes that you can see iPads and Macs as separate product categories, so they do not want to make a touchscreen hardware from the Mac. Most recently, the iPad had once again approached MacOS – with Ipados 26 there will be a significantly improved window management on numerous devices, which users had been waiting for for a long time.

So had The Wall Street Journal Also speculated last December about a “larger device that is supposed to serve as a laptop”. It should have a “approximately 19 -inch” screen. The usually well-informed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also spoke of such a foldable device as a “MacBook”, similar statements also made the display expert Ross Young. But what comes and how it is marketed only knows Apple alone. An iPad foldable would certainly be simpler for the group, since MacOS is currently simply not suitable for touchscreens.

At first it seems to be stated that Apple will launch an iPhone foldable in autumn 2026. It should be more conventional, says Bloomberg. Apple is said to be based on the competition like the foldable of Samsung. However, Apple is supposed to deliver an almost wrinkle -free display when it was opened. When opened, the device allegedly has 7.8 inches, so it would not be entirely up to the iPad Mini (8.3 inches).
