Betatester of iOS 26 should be very attentive if you-like many people do-have your iPhone wake up: Apple has not necessarily revised the design of its alarm function in the new iPhone operating system. As part of the new “Liquid Glass” designs, two different sized buttons such as in iOS 18 two of the same size, which are also directly among themselves (see picture above). That means: drunk you have to take a close look at what you press, otherwise you deactivate the alarm clock instead of starting slumber mode.
Badly clapped on the screen
Jack Fields, a former Apple engineer, brings the criticism on x To the point: “This new design is … interesting.” The stop button is “terrifyingly large”. Interestingly, this design was checked by Apple himself in the past: Fields was involved. “This goes against the investigations in which I (then) took part.”
Apple has therefore noticed that for buttons that have the same size, a sleepy in Up to 30 percent more cases Performed – the users simply stopped the alarm instead of activating it slumbering. “During the test phase we had a version of the watch app that recorded all touch gestures in a heatmap. It recorded where our tired hands clapped hands on the screen to see how exactly we landed when the Weckers were switched off. It turned out that we were quite bad in it.”
It is still just a beta
After all, Apple has integrated an improvement in the alarm clock in iOS 26: You can now determine the slumber mode in length – from one to 15 minutes. At the moment it is always nine minutes. However, this does not help if you switch off the alarm completely. The new user interface with the larger button helps to operate the app. The only question is how strongly the incorrect operation rate increases.
In the past, Apple has repeatedly had problems with the iPhone alarm clock-sometimes also due to operating errors. iOS 26 is currently available in the second developer beta. It is quite possible that Apple revises the look of its alarm clock again. Even the glassiness of the control center was recently reduced in the sense of readability.
