Since last week it has been possible to test iOS 26 and the other new Apple operating systems as part of a public beta as a normal user. However, there was an exception: owner of the iPhone 11, the oldest of iOS 26 still supported from 2019, initially did not receive the preliminary version.
There were apparently technical reasons for this that Apple has now resolved: whoever the beta despite official registration So far not saw it should try it again. The build suitable for the iPhone 11 wears number 23a5297n, which is a letter “Next” than the build for the other devices (23A5297M).
Folders not presented correctly
According to Apple, there were difficulties with the presentation of folders on the homescreen – and only on the iPhone 11. According to this, only those apps that could be seen on the left side of the “Grids” were displayed when opening folders. The other two icon columns were missing, so that you couldn’t click them.
How exactly this came about is so far unclear. The iPhone 11 is the successor to the iPhone XR and comes with an A13 bionic including “Notch” for the TrueDeth camera, which enables facial recognition face ID. The second generation iPhone SE (from 2020), which uses the same chip, did not have the difficulties – the public beta of iOS 26 was distributed here from the start.
What devices the beta support
As mentioned, iOS 26 runs from iPhone 11 – in all three variants (Pro and Pro Max do not seem to have been affected by the above bow). Furthermore, it is the SE 2 mentioned and all generations of the series 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16. IPhone XR and XS are out.
