iOS 26 fits icons in the color of iPhone shell-if it has to be

Apple’s great redesign of its operating systems do not meet all users – and they can no longer downgrade on iPhone and iPad. Nevertheless, there are some functions in iOS 26 and Co. that can be described as quite clever. However, some of them work like technical overkill, as it is now evident.

For example, Apple has installed a function in its iPhone operating system that enables the look of the icons to be colored exactly as it fits its large new coating offer of iPhone 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. It was initially unclear whether it also works with the Cases of the Daughter Beats. The implementation takes place with the help of the small NFC chip, which is located in every MagSafe product. This usually serves to pass on equipment infos, ensure that the iPhone recognizes that it is a cover or a credit card housing.

With Apple’s covers, there is also a color code in the information that is transmitted to iOS 26. To adapt the icon colors, you first go to the setting screen for the homescreen, which appears by longer pressure on the space of the icons. There is then edited and discontinued from a pop-up menu. The colored icons that Apple offers next to the dark and transparent mode should then also show a sleeve symbol. If it is clicked, the icons turn into a match, As Macrumors writes.

The target group for the function should be rather small, but Apple shows what is possible with a link from hardware and software. The colored icons can still be read comparatively well compared to the transparent presentation (“clear”). However, since you all have the same look, a distinction is only possible when you look closely. It all seems visually elegant – at least at first glance.

By the way, Apple dynamically adapts the colors, so puts a color filter over the icons. Apple’s covers start at around 55 euros. This year, the group also sells its own Lanyard for the first time, which can only be attached to the iPhone with a suitable cover. The iPhone itself does not have the necessary perforation.
