iOS 18.5 brings error corrections and small innovations

Apple has published the next major point update for its operating systems. Since Monday evening, iOS 18.5, Ipados 18.5, MacOS 15.5 Sequoia, Watchos 11.5, TVOS 18.5 and Visionos 2.5 have been available for download on the respective devices. The new versions focus on error fixes, including the removal of security gaps.

However, there are also smaller functional renovations, including a tangible improvement in child locking “screen time”: Parents should now receive a message as soon as the children of the screen time code are entered on the devices of the children. This will probably only work when all devices involved are at the current software stand. It is the first larger expansion of the screen time function, which otherwise seems to be forgotten largely at Apple – and which is to be avoided as easy. If the new warning is reliably working, one of the loopholes with which children have so far undermined the lock.

Also new is a Pride Harmony Wallpaper as well as the associated dial for the Apple Watch and a directly integrated option to deactivate the new sender images in Apple Mail on iPhones and iPads. The iPhone also makes it more convenient to buy content in the Apple TV app on devices from other manufacturers-for example on a smart TV.

Apple also supports satellite connections on the iPhone-13 series for the first time, in all models. There, however, only satellite services can be used by other providers – if available – and not from Apple’s partner Globalstar. The satellite truff function integrated into the news app therefore remains limited to the iPhone 14 and newer models.

The manufacturer also delivers patches with versions 14.7.6 and 13.7.6 for MacOS 14 and MacOS 13. Apple should give details of the eliminated weaknesses in the further course of the evening. At the same time, there is also a new software version for HomePods.
