iOS 18.4 and Visionos 2.4 in second beta: new apps for iPhone and vision per

The Vision Pro, Apple's first mixed reality headset, combines great technology with a high price-and unfortunately not entirely ideal usability. In order to enable new customers (and existing users to put on the device less frequently), Apple adds new apps to iOS 18.4 and Visionos 2.4 with new apps. These can be tried out for the first time in the second developer beta of updates that were made available on Monday.

With iOS 18.4, the final version of which is expected until April, its own vision-pro application for the first time comes to the iPhone. Their design is reminiscent of the Apple Watch app-although Apple's computer clock from Apple was initially not considered a stand-alone device, in contrast to the vision pro. The new Vision Pro app is also called the same and offers a mixture of content and device management. It is intended to make users want to use the headset or make it easier to use.

Apple provides for three main functions: First, the discovery of new content such as 3D films and 3D TV series plus exclusive spatial content, secondly the direct management of the vision per including downloads and thirdly the user support including tips for operating the vision pro (and data such as the serial number). The download feature is quite clever: you can make an interesting apps and content on the iPhone and as soon as the Vision Pro is set up and booked in WLAN, download is starting. Apple, however, also admits with the app that the iPhone is often the faster device to be used than the Vision Pro itself. The model of all things is meta with the official Quest app (which is now called “Meta Horizon”), which has long been used to manage the headset, but has even more functions.

In Visionos 2.4 Beta 2, the so -called Spatial Gallery can be found for the first time. This should present this in an optimal environment for the vision per optimized content. “Discover the magic of Spatial Content on the Vision Pro,” Apple advertises. The application contains specially created photos, videos and panoramas that artists, photographers and filmmakers have created for the Vision Pro.

This includes, for example, nature and architectural photography, the “Red Bull Air Force” or Behind-the-Scenes recordings of Apple TV+series such as “Severance”. Anyone who has little deal with the very impressive 3D skills of the Vision Pro will find a good start here.
