Intel is said to have knocked on Apple

Intel apparently is looking for other investors in order to bring their own finances up to shape at short notice and thus get back into the black. Specifically, the chip manufacturer Apple is said to have contacted a potential partnership.

The reports the Bloomberg news agency Referring to sources that should be familiar with the process. On the one hand, it should be about an investment in the company after the US government and Nvidia have already announced investments. On the other hand, Intel apparently wants to work with Apple again in any form.

The talks are said to be at an early stage and could end without success. However, the rumors alone are enough to let Intel’s share increase a few percent again.

A possible cooperation is primarily about Apple’s processors. A return to Intel CPUs is almost impossible. In contrast to the Nvidia cooperation, semi-custom chips with Intel components for Apple are also uninteresting, since the company has completely decoupled from the X86 ecosystem with the switch to ARM processors.

However, Intel could at least produce some chips for Apple in the future. In order for this to become realistic, however, the division of the chip application (Intel Foundry) must finally catch up with the world market leader TSMC.

Apple could then have Intel produced processors and advertise “Made in America” with chips. With TSMCS US neck conductor works, this only works with older products because the Taiwaners only use their latest manufacturing processes in their home country.

Alternatively, Intel could take over the so-called packaging of certain Apple processors, i.e. marry the chips with straps. However, this rinses much less money into the cash register than the production of entire chips and would primarily be a symbolic partnership.
