At the moment, it looks very much that Apple plans larger redesigns of all of its operating systems, in addition to iOS 19 also iPados 19 and MacOS 16. Allegedly, there are supposed to lead to further equation measures between the surfaces for iPhone, iPad and Mac, which may all be able to get a glass -like look. In the context of the possible renovation, the announcement of which can be expected in June for WWDC 2025, there is again criticism of Apple’s MacOS strategy. In particular, professionals would rather see it if Apple does product care and fixes mistakes than might be bogged down with a new design.
Bugs again and again
Already last year there were corresponding hopes in connection with the 15th birthday of MacOS 10.6 alias Snow Leopard. In 2009, Apple even proudly announced that they wanted to stabilize the pre -version Leopard and improve internally instead of overloading with new functions. In fact, this idea is at least as topical in 2025 as it was then. “Zero new functions” had been announced at the time and a round package was delivered, which made annoying mistakes.
MacOS 15 alias Sequoia shows similar problems as one of the time. There were sometimes massive problems in the release cycle, primarily for company users. After the release, endpoint security tools simply no longer ran as usual. Later, several updates slowed down network filters, and there were also error reports when using VPNs. The stability of individual program parts also left a lot to be desired. Apple now seems to tend to make internal changes largely unannounced that can have significant effects – and not to find the bugs in good time in the beta phase.
The look is not decisive
This also has to do with the strict release cycle once a year. Developers take care of new functions that the group can then announce instead of solving older problems. A transition to a two -year cycle is always brought into play, but it was over a decade: Snow Leopard followed two years to Leopard.
The users were more pleased than they took Apple bad. In fact, the possible profound changes in MacOS updates recently ensure that users only change with version .3 or .4 to ensure that the worst errors are eliminated. A pretty design is not that important.
